I lean to travel alone not in groups. And I have been to Spain a few times on travel by myself. I think it is a beautiful country, and I'd love to go back for awhile. Cities like tarragona and mallorca spainare all unforgettable. If you're in Barcelona be sure to check out the Picasso museum as well and the best way to get around Spain is by train. I recommend you go to Spain, if you want to travel to Europe.

its all a matter of where you eat. there are a lot of fusion restaurants in asia but if you hit the hawkers or local food centres you'll find lots of authentic local asian dishes still doing the rounds there.
authentic is a big question mark though. even the dishes we asians presume to be authentic sometimes really isn't quite the way they should be. for the adventurous give braised chicken feet a go next you're in a dim sum place. one of my all time favourites. |

Yes that's true about authenticity. But you'll be surprised by the authentic stuff you find in some chinatowns. I think Sydney, London and obviously Vancouver, Melbourne they all have really fantastic Chinese food, that is probably more authentic than the ones you get in more oriental countries.
Many restaurants in Asia try to be new-agey or serve fusion food, or have also adapted the more traditional dishes with new western ingredients. |

Though i doubt what i like is authentic Chinese.. The only thing i eat resembling it (that ive ordered at resteraunts) is almond chicken (the fried fillet with almond breading version with a gravy), rice, and vegies. I thought the spicy beef strips were decent (have no idea what it was caleld), but i bet that too isnt authentic. I guesse its hard for the less traveled folks like me to know what 'real' authentic foods are really like since whats made around here is not the same despite what the claims usually are. I had the same issue when i went to Canada looking for mexican food.. They dont have a clue what real authentic mexican is like, even when they say its authentic on their poster boards. One time i didnt eat a meal in one of these resteraunts.. and what i ordered didnt even resemble what i asked for.. when the woman tendign my table asked what was wrong.. i flat out said, maam, im from texas, and this isnt mexican food. lol. she laughed and said she was from teh states and knew exactly what i meant, and that no it wasnt. Its just canadas' representation of what they think it is. Had the same problems up in the northen united states back in the 80's even. Finally its somewhat gradually came around and now their are some places you can find with meals that are somewhat acceptable. The thing is, thats with food that borders our country. I cant imagine how hard it might be to find 'good' Chinese cuisine in the US perhaps. Then again, i might be wrong; since i dont know what 'good Chinese' is considered. =D Im sure somewhere their might be some, justa s southern california and parts of texas have 'good' mexican food. Might be easier to find in British Columbia actually. A *lot* of Chinese have immigrated their. Ive heard it estimated that the majortity of the population Vancouver is actually Chinese now. I dont have the guts to try to eat something that still moves, unless its melting cheese. Hehehe. |
