So what happens to Jin Yang? Does she make it past just first tryouts? When she fell off that balance beam i almost wanted to cry for her. Im glad she made it to the next finals. I saw how well she did after that, and then that she made it through the first tests; i let out a cheer. I hope she gets past that crowd/pressure nervousness.
She worked very hard for what shes trying to accompish, and seeing how much time she spends away from her father and home to do this for years is more than what a lot of folks would endure. As if the physical routines arent hard enough. If she makes it.. ill definately be rooting for her. =)

For those who are interested in Jin Yang progress it seems like she will have to shelf her dreams of Olympic Glory in 2008. It seems like the Chinese women gymnastics team have just won the gold medal at the world championships. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/2008/2006-10/19/content_711528.htm. So it's unlikely she will make the team for 2008 now.

Well, it doesn't look as if Jin Yang was successful in her quest to make the Chinese gymnastic squad. Here is a link to an article about the team selection for the world championships coming up in Denmark this week. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/2008/2006-10/10/content_705135.htm. It seems like they've selected a young team with an eye for the 2008 Olympics. Unfortunately Jin Yang doesn't appear to have made the squad.
Anyway, her story was quite touching. Hopefully she will get more chances to make the team in the lead up to the games. However the one thing I do want to point out to viewers of the documentary, is that her story is not unique. There are thousands of young Chinese girls who are going through the exact same thing. Some that comes from remote villages have to endure even more hard ship than Jin Yang cause they'll be lucky if they get to see their parents more than once a year. At least Jin Yang is able to see her dad once a week. Still a great story and good luck to her in her quest for Olympic glory.

The following of Jin Yang certainly was the most poignant part of the entire China Revealed segment for me. As a young Chinese woman myself, I found her to be an immense source of pride and inspiration like none other. When I think of the sacrifices she has made in her pursuit of greatness, I no longer feel the right to get discouraged or frustrated with my own trifles. I certainly hope she will make it in 2008, but if not, she is still young! The future is bright for her.

That's definitely true. I think hers is the most touching and most eye-opening of all the characters.
Although I kinda think she's been robbed off her childhood, and she wouldn't even know there were alternate ways to live since she went into training when she was too young to know any better.
