Location: hong kong Posts: 7 | Hi TJs!!! The challenge question is easypeasy!!! It would make a great day trip to actually just check out the answer to this question. The answer is the Giant Buddha (see link below) http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/touring/hkiidistricts/ta_dist_isla1.jhtmlIt is located on Lantau Island (one of the outlying islands) at the Po Lin Monastery (they serve vegetarian meals for HK$24 I think). Take a ferry over there (I think its Pier no.6), then bus 2 (from Mui Wo) to the Buddha. (other routes are suggested at the site above.) I am not entirely sure about the actual number of steps, though its most likely 200+ steps. (268? I think its safer to check...its worth the trip!!) Since you guys are out there anyway...might as well take bus 21 to Tai O, which is a fishing village where you can still see some of the local fishing culture that is preserved in Hong Kong. Stay safe and have fun in the 852 TJs (when I'm off to Koh Samui...don't think I'll get any internet.) Cheers! Bev |

Hello TJs and welcome to Hong Kong. Hong Kong Tourism has heard of your arrival and has prepared a challenge question that will lead you to a fantastic prize. This week's challenge is for Tony and here is your question:
It sits on a lotus and faces north. What is it and how many steps does one need to climb to reach it?
You have 72 hours to answer this challenge, and you can use the internet, your colleagues, or members of the public. If you get the answer right, you will all get a benefit. But if you get it wrong, you will get nothing. Good luck.

------------------------------------------------ Po Lin Monastery & The Big Buddha
One of Hong Kong's major Buddhist centers, Po Lin Monastery is Lantau's most popular tourist attraction. Set amid spectacular mountain scenery, the monastery shares Ngong Ping Plateau with the famous Big Buddha, the world's largest, seated, outdoor, bronze Buddha statue. Visitors can walk up the 268 steps to visit the 26-metre-high, 202-tonne wonder. More ambitious hikers can climb the nearby Lantau Peak. ------------------------------------------------
