Location: AUSTRALIA Posts: 12 | Hiya Gabe ... In your msg link on the www.5takes.com msg boards, you mentioned about finding a place to chill out after filming for the series ends. Since most probably you'll be looking at the island in Southern Thailand anyway for that, I would also recommend you to take a look at what the Langkawi and Perhentian Island on the Malaysian side of the border has to offer. Check out their wikipedia travel links here: For Langkawi (on the west coast): http://wikitravel.org/en/LangkawiFor Perhentians (on the east coast): http://wikitravel.org/en/Perhentian_IslandsBoth islands are a bit sedated and family-oriented so it could be an alternative to the party-island vibe you might find in Southern Thailand. There is a backpacker's party scene on Perhentian Kecil but it doesn't compare to what you'll find in Koh Samui and surrounding islands. Personally I like the Perhentians better because it's not too crowded and you can find your own quiet space to really relax and detox. If you looking for cheaper drinks then Langkawi would be your choice as being a duty-free island, alcohol is cheaper there than anywhere else in Malaysia Cheers and safe journeys |
