Hey TJ's

Definately go to see an AFL footy game. This is one of Australia's national games. Even girls love it as they can watch fit guys run around in tight shorts. There will be 2 games on when you are in Melbourne, 1 on the 17th and 1 on the 21st. They will both be at the Telstra Dome which is in the docklands area of Melboune. Visit www.afl.com.au for details.

Otherwise do the tour of the Melbourne Cricket Gound, commonly refered to as the 'MCG' or simply the "G". You can begin to understand another of Australia's national sports, being cricket.

Have fun.

hey TJ's

i would have to agree with Ben, you guys have to go see an AFL game when you are here, its our national football code, its been played for over a hundred years and its home is the G. the G holds around 100,000 people and when its packed has an unreal atmosphere. everyone in melbourne has a team that they follow and some get pretty passionate about it, so be prepared to get into the spirit of the game Smiler

for live music, pick up a copy of Beat magazine or In press magazine which can be found in most cafes, bars and shops throughout the city. they come out weekly and will give you guys an up to date listing of all the music happenings in and around the city. try to catch a gig at the corner hotel (an institution of music in melb), the Tote, the Evelyn or the Palace. though there are heaps of live music venues to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice.

also you guys are lucky enough to be here for the Comedy festival, check out www.comedyfestival.com.au this festival is the third largest comedy festival in the world behind montreal and edinburgh and has all the top acts going around. i recommend seeing danny bhoy at the athenaeum theatre or ross noble at the town hall, both great acts. but you'll find on the website that there are free gigs happening during the festival.

anyways great that you're coming to melbourne, keep on smilin' Smiler

You guys have given me sooo much great stuff on the nightlife there, when am I going to ever sleep? This info is priceless though. Can anyone give me more info on the secret bars? From the info Sables gave me, I'm going to put my ear to the ground when I get there and try to find out more about those. Keep those night time activities coming. I'm also interested in checking out some of the comedy as well!

Hey TJ's

for the secret bars, as has been pointed out previously, the croft institute is a great bar well worth going just for the decor, honky tonks is also good, robot bar is funky, st jeromes is a really good laneway bar and for a different experience, try a restaurant on st kilda road called the darkside, from what i understand you eat your meal in complete darkness!?! might not make for great TV, but it would be cool to check out. check it out on http://www.melbournepubs.com/search?l=en&c=S21&q=darkside&se=SE1

these are just some suggestions, but yeah just keep your ears open and you should find some interesting little places in and around the city's streets. also remember that the city has different neighbourhoods close by that offer different types of nightlife such as brunswick st, st kilda, richmond etc. so party on down Smiler
