hey TJ's
i would have to agree with Ben, you guys have to go see an AFL game when you are here, its our national football code, its been played for over a hundred years and its home is the G. the G holds around 100,000 people and when its packed has an unreal atmosphere. everyone in melbourne has a team that they follow and some get pretty passionate about it, so be prepared to get into the spirit of the game

for live music, pick up a copy of Beat magazine or In press magazine which can be found in most cafes, bars and shops throughout the city. they come out weekly and will give you guys an up to date listing of all the music happenings in and around the city. try to catch a gig at the corner hotel (an institution of music in melb), the Tote, the Evelyn or the Palace. though there are heaps of live music venues to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice.
also you guys are lucky enough to be here for the Comedy festival, check out
www.comedyfestival.com.au this festival is the third largest comedy festival in the world behind montreal and edinburgh and has all the top acts going around. i recommend seeing danny bhoy at the athenaeum theatre or ross noble at the town hall, both great acts. but you'll find on the website that there are free gigs happening during the festival.
anyways great that you're coming to melbourne, keep on smilin'
