For a different beach experience, you guys should go to Gordon's Bay. There's no sand, just big flat rocks and water so no sandy orifices later. It's a fave spot for nude sunbathing but I'm sure the producers will make you keep your clothes on. ;-)
I 2nd the above and think Gordon's Bay is a worthwhile visit. Also night time swimming in Bronte sea pool is also as worthy. During the day it's fully of little kids but at night the place is amazing. Just watch out for nude drunk skinny dipping teenagers!!
34b on Oxford St, Darlighurst often has good old style Burlesque shows..or both boys and girls (sorry no nudity)much more fun than looking at a bridge that was modelled on a coathanger.
You should go to Glebe, which is a very bohemian areas. Love the bookshops there. It's got a great feel to the place and for $50, you could pick up some knick-knacky stuff from the Glebe Markets on Sunday. Accommodation - cheap backpackers place in Glebe (YHA).
