In reply to Mark 6, its regrettable that IFC2 has no public viewing deck! The peak remains the cheapest and most terrific destination to see the view from top.
TRANSPORT: Don't miss the tram, at $2 you might find it efficient off-peak hours. Surely, its only available on Hk Island. So cross the harbour with Star Ferry! Its old-fashioned, but always exciting ride across the harbour. Make best use of web sites of local bus companies to prepare for a bus trip. They even show you photos of most bus stops. After midnight, its safe and economic to take red minibuses to reach major areas across HK. Just remember to make sure if they can get you to your destination...
ACCOMODATION: This will be the hardest part to cut cost. Hostels are cheap but rather remote; hotels at any grade will be expensive if there are major trade fairs; guest houses could be cheap at any time, but its difficult to judge its reliability until you get into the room.
FOOD: Average cost for a fulfilling breakfast is aroung HKD10-15, lunch is HKD20-30, dinner is HKD30-40. Local noodles shop offer $10 noodles, which are usually reliable. I know a few sandwiches/salad outlet in Sheung Wan will have 50% off on all products after 6PM. The hottest foreign cuisine in HK is Japanese food, but they can get costly...or go try a localised steak house, where you can find steaks served by a hot iron dish. At costs below HKD100, don't expect too much, but its interesting to see how HK people localize foreign cuisine.
SEE: Symphony of light! Special light effects on dozens of highrise on both sides of the harbour is simply unique and fantastic!! the shows start 8pm daily. Skip the government-run museum please. Go visit the medical museum in the mid-levels and take a walk in the streets of old buildings around the area. The walk has been recommended by locals and always inspiring. Finally, go hiking in Da Long Sai Wan in SaiKung. It takes you half a day, but the great views deserve the sweat.
um. k i'm just gonna put down some random ideas here: 5-10 June. Thats the Dragon Boat Races Season!! be part of a team! Transport: Tram MTR (subway) Star Ferry is a must (only 2.2) gets you across the harbor from Wanchai/Central to Tsim Sha Tsui
Eat/drink: (tonnes to offer!!) Dim Sum is a must (or noodles/or one of the local teahouses) Milk tea is goooood. Local baked goodies (find some in any bakery...pineapple buns recommended) Bars/nibbles at LanKwai Fong or Wanchai district Local street food
Fun stuff to do: Cantonese Opera? Horse racing! Pink Dolphin watching Shopping at Ladies street, Temple street, (interesting stuff to see at Bird Street, Fish Street) or for more expensive/classy stuff check out the major malls
Outlying islands/Outskirts: Sai Kung for water sports/activities or hiking? Lantau Tai O? Fishing village? Cheung Chau...? Big Buddhas a good one.

tickets for disneyland on regular days is HK$295 each. since US$50=HK$400 (roughly) i think its just enough for u ppl to spend a whole day there and experience the smallest disneyland in the world. but i think u wont have much money left for souvenirs since transportation costs a lot here in hk
