The TJs are in the Land of the Long White Cloud from 1 - 6 May. What are some of the sights and sounds of Auckland that they just can't miss?

Hey there, I'm an Aucklander and can suggest a few cool things to do for sure: The Ice Bar (i think thats what its called) in the viaduct area of downtown is a bar where everything is completely made of ice. Thats the bar, the walls, the shot glasses, everything. You have to wear full eskimo suits and are only allowed in the freezing atmosphere for about 45 mins i think, but you can pack that 45mins with vodka and fun... Then head to one of the other bars in the area straight afterwards... Good live music can be found if you look hard enough in Auckland - Try Rakino's on High St, The King's Arms in Newton, Kuja Lounge on Upper Queen St, Safari Lounge in Ponsonby, and there are plenty of good DJ's scattered over town. Also a good thing is to try the bungy jump off the Sky Tower or the Harbour Bridge, or get out fishing with one of the local charter boat guys - good fun when the conditions get rough and the skippers are always pretty interesting characters... You may definitely need to find a local to show you out and about to find whats goin on at the time. Also - there are 2 absoultely brilliant radio stations that can help provide things to do - George FM on 96.8 and BFM on 95.0fm. Give them a listen for ideas... Also just out of Auckalnd is something called 'The Amazing Maze' where you go to this massive labyrinth at night and groups of you have to find your way out of this huge maze, armed with torches, all the while trying to avoid characters like Jason, and Freddy... apparently it's pretty funny. Anywho, that's probably enough from me - feel free to ask for any other help...
hey u guys! man, am i jealous, u guys having superfun. anyways, i was in NZ last year around this time. now, first thing... taste pavlova... its this local dessert... pudding+cake+fruit. and its got some crumbly bits, too. and the weather will be amazing.... and go see victoria park market... good for a quick (CHEAP) shopping spree... get some paua shells... amazing things, and i know there's sumthing about an underwater memorial somewhere close to auckland. didnt get to see it myself, but u can find out at the tourist centre... very helpful people. AAAAANNNNDD there's an ostrich farm towards the thames-nyatea area... not tooooooooo far from auckland... but if ur going up toward thames then there are a LOOOOTTTTTT more cool things to do... just sit in the tourist centre and harass those people to death (notice: the most ridiculous amount of harassing will NOT get these ppl annoyed) ok, just realised my info's not too useful.... humm....
If you have time, take a 15 minute ferry ride from Auckland to the early European settlement of Devonport. It has its fair share of well-preserved Victorian buildings with 19th century atmosphere. Plenty of art and crafts galleries and cafes to keep you busy for at least half a day.
