We are freelance contributors for Ozbike magazine (not on permanent staff)and attended the event at Overflow Park until 6pm. We are researching the days events and are interested in what transpired from 6pm until closing ie did they actually build a bike? Does anyone have proof of or know the individual who won the bike? Does anyone have a comment on the $20 per bike parking fee? We also understand from the general public's point of view, the dissatisfaction, and already have enough material to go with, however would be interested to know if anyone is prepared to be quoted. Please contact by email dwahren@unwired.com.au

See my small site at www.geocities.com/occrefund
I have people's letters of complaint that where sent to Chugg Entertainment all the letters have different perspectives of the day yet all sound awfully familiar.

The best way to find out about the raffle is to go to the horses mouth and ask Chugg - he ran the raffle after all!!

G'day daleozbike. I was there until the bike build was over and won by this really weedy little guy...not that he'll ever ride it...leaglly that is, it would never pass Oz compliance. I have real concerns about the way the "raffle" was conducted. For a start, as far as I can find out, it was not sanctioned. One has to get a permit to run these things and show the number on the tickets...I've still got mine...no number on them. The other worry about the bike giveaway I wrote about in another part of this forum but I have copied here to save you the search. The organisers made rules (and variations on those rules) on the run. They first said that five tickets would be drawn, starting at 5 through to 2 (who were to get minor prizes) and the last ticket drawn would win the bike. Tickets holders were to be given 3 minutes to present themselves to collect their prize. Sounds simple enough but they seemed incapable of dealing with the fact that many ticket holders had left (well, it was bucketing down rain by that stage!). All of a sudden they kept drawing tickets until they had five holders present then drew from those from a hat. The person who had been drawn out fifth has every right to feel cheated. He/she was suddenly put into a "final" rather than winning the bike outright. To the crowd this drawing from a hat smacked of cheating...because all our tickets were still in the barrel and we were not told that this “final” arrangement had been put in place.

We never saw the five ticket holders, for all we know the guy was a seed to save giving the bike away. They certainly didn't "interview" him on stage or anything. It was all a fair bit sus!

Cheers
The Canberran
